Charming

While organizing my jewelry box (aka jewelry boxes/drawers/displays/cabinets) I came across a charm bracelet given to me by my late grandmother for my high school graduation. It's a sterling silver figure-eight linked bracelet and held one solitary charm--a graduation hat with my graduation date engraved on the back.

Inspired by my grandmother's own charm bracelet--a gold bracelet dangling with charms and trinkets from every place she traveled--I began searching for add-ons from my own stash. From my jewelry archive I came across second hand charms, rejected pendants and re-purposed trinkets to fill up the links of my bracelet.

1. gradutaion hat from my Nonna for my high school graduation
2. cross from family friends for my Confirmation
3. heart my Dad gave my Mom that she contributed to this bracelet
4. lucky four leaf clover with pearl (two things you can never have enough of!)
5. diamond ladder to remind me "Onward, Upward, Always"
6. butterfly in remembrance of my Nonna
7. Miraculous Medal of Mary my mother insists should be worn at all times
8. diamond horseshoe (for more good luck)
9. LMAO (something my brother always does to me when we text)
10. bumblebee to represent the "Bee Hive" in Hazelton
11. claddagh from my Irish godfather and his family
12. OM symbol for my love of yoga and to remind me to breath
13. sailboat for my Dad and his success with Scott
14. hamsa hand from my Nana for protection
15. Pisces fish for my birthday
16. tree of life for my family
17. peace (something we all need more of)
18. sunflower in remembrance of my PopPop

In addition to reminding me about loved ones, special events and places, my charm bracelet also serves as a sounding alarm to passersby when I draw near. While the true definition of an "arm party" includes multiple wrist adornments, this singular bracelet warrants a noise violation all its own!

What charm, trinket or pendant has significant meaning to you?

Statement Necklace

I'm linking up with Marionberry Style today for her Trend of the Month Challenge. This month's trend is all about the statement necklace.

( olivine's garden )

I'm a big fan of statement jewelry in general, whether it's a necklace or not. It can really take an outfit to the next level; whether you use it to dress up a casual outfit or to accessorize a work look, it will really make a statement!

I'd pair this statement necklace with a limeade cardigan, brown tank top, light khakis and brown tweed flats for a casual afternoon outing. The color combination gets me in the mood for fall, while the flowers on the cardigan and necklace bring me right back to the final days of summer.

Sometimes the statement is in the details!
